This special day — 11.11.11 — is also Veterans Day.
Weddings on dates like today have become so popular over the years and bookings have also been made everywhere for weddings on Dec. 12, 2012 or 12.12.12.
On Saipan, over 20 couples will get married today. Variety learned that Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos will be conducting two wedding ceremonies and has signed more than 10 marriage licenses.
Only one wedding is scheduled at the Saipan Mayor’s Office. Other weddings will be at different churches and locations.
Among Saipan’s 11.11.11 couples are Jeffrey Quitugua and Lianna Cecilia Peters who will tie the knot at the San Roque Church this morning. Quitugua works for the Department of Corrections while Peters works for the Board of Parole.
Peters said she and her fiancé already have three children — Anthony Jeremiah, 10, Darin Jeffrey, 6, and Jeffrey Jr., 4.
Peters said she met Quitugua for the first time 16 years ago through a family friend.
“We have been waiting for a signal, and we know that this unique day is what we have been waiting for,” Peters said.
Kennedy Benjamin, who works as health and safety marketing coordinator of the American Red Cross-NMI chapter, is one of the grooms who will be exchanging “I Do’s” today at the Sta. Remedios Church in Tanapag.
Benjamin said he met his fiancée, Kiki Igitol, more than a couple of years back and immediately felt that “she is the one.” He said they got engaged just before he was deployed to Iraq last year.
“This is a unique date and we decided to tie the knot today,” Benjamin said.
Benjamin and Igitol have two children, a two-year-old girl and a two-month-old boy.
“I wish that all those who are getting married today will have long and successful marriages,” Benjamin said.
