The applications may be reconsidered for approval if SHEFA inadvertently omitted them from the list of approved field of study awards, he said.
On March 7, Hofschneider said SHEFA disbursed $454,500 checks for field of study financial assistance to students in the CNMI and abroad.
He said the total number of checks disbursed in March covered most of the field of study awards for the fall 2010 term.
On April 7, the CNMI Treasury released $532,000 in incentive financial assistance checks for the fall 2010 term.
He said SHEFA started disbursing the checks on Friday.
For the fall term, $965,200 was released for grant-in aid: $457,200 for on-island students, and $508,000 for off-island students.
A total of $847,500 was released for priority fields of study — $436,500 for on-island students, and $411,000 for off-island.
Hofschneider said the total fund released for fall 2010 may increase as a result of the approval of those applications that will undergo a second review.
He said the disbursement of fall 2010 grant-in-aid awards is already completed.
For spring 2011, as of April 12, the total approved financial assistance awards had already reached $778,900.
