Schrack succeeds Eloy Inos who was confirmed by the Senate on Friday as the first appointed lt. governor of the commonwealth.
Then-Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez resigned following his conviction on corruption charges in federal court late last month.
His sentencing is scheduled for July 28.
Press Secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr. said the Fitial administration is still carefully reviewing potential nominees for the finance secretary’s post.
Statutes require the finance secretary to have extensive background and experience in either business, accounting or finance, he said.
Schrack has been with the finance department since the third administration of Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio (1998-2002) and has served as acting secretary in numerous occasions.
