Shakira’s dance number performed during the talent show competition on April 18 won her the Best in Talent Award.
She was also named Best in Lingerie for her red skimpy two-piece outfit.
Shakira likewise won the award for Best in Nature Costume designed by Lyka Ogarte, supervisor of Marianas Spa.
Shakira brought home a $250 cash prize, deluxe overnight accommodation at the Grand Saipan Hotel, one-day free car use courtesy of Island Car Rental, bouquets from Phillip Canuto of Island Florals, and a cellular phone from IT&E.
“Ruffa Gutierrez” was named second runner-up while “Aryssa Flores” was first runner up.
Miss Fire 2009 was “Giselle Knowles” while “Beyonce Villagomez” won the Miss Air 2009 title.
“Dayanara Torres” was adjudged Miss Water 2009.
The Miss Photogenic Award went to Flores while Knowles was named Miss Congeniality. The Best in Evening Gown award went to Torres.
Villagomez was awarded Most Articulate in the question and answer portion.
Event organizer Sharmane Casquero said she was very happy with the success of the event.
“We are proud to have the participation of locals like Flores and Knowes,” Casquero said.
The Miss Diva Earth 2009 search is focused on the theme “Save the planet, care for the environment” and this was portrayed in the fabulous gowns in the nature costume competition where the designers used nature-inspired recycled materials.
Casquero extends her thanks choreographer Joel Vallaga, Ernie Molina, master of ceremonies Ricky and tabulator Victor Almasan for the full support in making the event a success. She said they will next plan for the 3rd Miss Earth Diva 2010.
Hard Rock Café Saipan assistant manager Aldwin Cullat was thankful for the support of the community to the program.
“I did not expect the restaurant to be filled up to the brim, but I’m glad it did,” Cullat said.

Proceeds from the Miss Earth Diva 2009 search will benefit Beautify CNMI.
Casquero said the Miss Earth Diva search is “a high level quality entertainment which instills the concept of beauty with oneself, the acceptance and celebration of the rights and qualities of modern day gays.”
Judges for the Miss Earth Diva 2009 were Rep. Tina Sablan, Angelo Villagomez of Beautify CNMI, IT&I customer services director Rob Harrel, Paulina Pascual of the Pacific Islands Club, U2 owner Dee Clayton and Sha Sha Wenceslao of Hopwood Junior High School.
