(CHCC) — The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., in collaboration with Shriners Hospitals for Children Hawaii, provided much needed orthopedic services to children, children with special healthcare needs and adolescents aged 0-18 years in the CNMI from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2023.

A total of 108 CNMI children were served, of whom 84 were returning patients and 24 new patients from Saipan, Tinian and Rota. Some patients were identified as needing treatment services and referred to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Hawaii also coordinates referrals to other pediatric specialty healthcare providers that are not readily available here in the CNMI, such as neurology consults and genetics consults. Shriners will accept any patient with orthopedic concerns from ages birth to 17 years old, regardless of their ability to pay.

This outreach clinic was made possible through an agreement between the CHCC and the Shriners Hospitals for Children Hawaii and supported by the staff of the CHCC Children’s Clinic and the Division of Public Health Services.
