So you want to quit smoking

Titled “Do you want to be a former smoker,” the booklet  authored by Barbara O. Cooley certified health education specialist is published by ETR Associates, a non-profit organization in the U.S which aims to promote healthy living.

The booklet contains a guide on how to quit smoking, a list of the benefits of quitting, tips on how to start quitting and what to do on your first day of quitting.

The 17-page booklet also contains black pages wherein the quitter can write about the daily progress he is making.

Some residents seen reading the booklet said it is helpful for people who are “ashamed to attend addiction and substance abuse seminars.”

“I think this book will help me quit,” Ariel Palacios, 23, said. “I took one because it’s free and I might share it with my fiancée [who is also a smoker] because we are looking forward to having a baby this year.”

Josie Reyes, another smoker, said the booklet will be helpful for her since it has a step by step procedure on how to quit smoking.

“It is going to save me the time and energy since I no longer need to go to a counselor,” she added.
