The bill has been the subject of an extended debate in Solomons’ parliament this week.
Solomons’ Prime Minister Derek Sikua said the political party integrity bill would improve the way politics is conducted in his country.
The chairman of the committee which drafted the bill, John Keniapisia, said it would put in place laws, and changes to the constitution which will ensure Solomons’ politicians serve the people, not just themselves.
“Around that time of the formation of government there is a lot of corruption and under the table dealings” he said.
“These are the problems that we have when you talk about political instability.”
A vote is expected before the house goes into recess at the end of the week, with the government expecting bilateral support.
