HONIARA (Pacnews) — Solomon Islands Foreign Minister Alex Bartlett has reassured Taiwan of his government’s continuing diplomatic support.
Bartlett has written to his Taiwanese counterpart saying relations between the two countries remain strong, despite rumors of a possible switch in his government’s foreign policy.
“There is growing concern in the Solomon Islands that the country’s foreign minister, Alex Bartlett, may switch diplomatic ties with Taiwan for China.
Already the country’s second biggest bilateral donor, Taiwan has had diplomatic relations with the South Pacific nation since 1983.
