Star Kist faces eviction

PAGO PAGO (Pacnews) — A lawsuit filed in the American Samoa High Court seeks to evict the largest private employer in the territory, Star Kist Samoa, from its premises in Satala.

The suit has been filed by the Satala Land Trust for the estate of landowner Sunni Groves and covers the property on which the Star Kist tuna production plant and offices are located and the adjacent land where the can manufacturing plant is situated.

The plaintiff is seeking a court order evicting Star Kist Samoa and Impress Inc., which now operates the can manufacturing plant, and a judgment of $117,772 for unpaid back rent.
