Syed, who was the group vice president, has been the acting president since January as he pursues the cause of guest workers, immediate relatives of U.S. citizens and parents of U.S. citizen children with disabilities.
In an interview yesterday, Syed said the election was held on Saturday and retained the other officers.
Their group will have to reorganize again because some of their officers and members are either no longer active or have already left the island, he said.
The other officers are Simon Sin, vice president; Janeth Curioso, secretary; Habullah Muhammad Ferduous, treasurer; Evelyn del Mundo, auditor; and Ronnie Doka chairman of the board.
The directors are Edgar Caras, Jun Lacanilao, Rakibul Islam and Jimmy Cruz.
Before the election on Saturday, Syed said they met with Congressman Gregorio Sablan to discuss the group’s petition asking the federal government to waive the fee for green card applications.
The group, Syed said, will submit copies of the petition to Sablan “because we know the congressman can help facilitate the concerns of the guest workers and IRs to the federal officials.”
