Greg Cruz, Taotao Tano president, said CUC Executive Director Antonio Muna should disclose whether there are available parts for all the engines of Power Plants 1 and 2, which were supposedly rehabilitated by DCM Group and Commonwealth Industry Soppy Co.
“Mr. Muna, you are repeating the same costly mistakes,” Cruz said in his letter. “What is the point of renting a power reserve back-up and power reserve containers when there are no parts available to continue any rehabilitation and repair work at Power Plant 1?”
Cruz said the repairs at Power Plant 2 undertaken by Commonwealth Industry Soppy Co. also experienced a similar predicament — a lack of repair parts. Some engines at the power plant are still not operational, he added.
CUC recently terminated DCM’s contract for its failure to repair on time seven of the eight engines at Power Plant 1.
CUC still has a contract with Commonwealth Industry Soppy Co.
Cruz said Muna earlier assured the public that the parts for engines 1 and 7 of Power Plant I will be available by mid-July.
CUC’s other contractors Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and Man Diesel were getting parts from Japan and Germany.
Under its contract with CUC, Aggreko will be responsible for erecting, installing, commissioning and decommissioning of the temporary power plant.
