Rabby Syed, who was reelected as the association’s president this year, said they will submit a report about the taxi industry to the Department of Commerce.
Since last year, the association has been asking the government to allow taxi drivers to pay the annual insurance policy on an installment basis after it was increased to over 50 percent.
Syed said they are hoping the government will consider their request this year.
The other newly elected officials of the group are Ashad Uzzaman, vice president; Ranjit K. Saha, secretary; Manjurul Alam, assistant secretary; Ranjit K. Saha, treasurer; and Amir Hossain, chairman of the board.
The board members are Mohedul Islam, Amrita L,. Sarker, Muhammad Jahangir Alam and Ziaur Rahman.
The other members of the group are Shamsur Rahaman, Shakhawat Hossain, Nazmul Hoque, Nazmul Huda, Joy Mollick and Anshar Ali.
Syed said their group will continue to provide a 50 percent discount to their passengers with special needs and the manamko’ as part of their community service.
“We are happy serve persons with disability and they can call us 287-7368 for prompt service,” he added.
The association, he said, will also continue its cleanup drive in the DFS area in Garapan.
