“I still can’t believe my luck,” Rebecca Schroeder told the Variety yesterday.
She said when her winning ticket number #0246 was announced, her brother’s wife in Chicago gave birth to their first child, making Schroeder a first-time aunt.
“This is too much luck, and I’m really overwhelmed,” she said.
Schroeder said she bought two tickets last week — one for her husband Jason and one for her — four days before the Club 200’s Swinging 60’s event at the Fiesta Resort & Spa on Saturday evening.
The first prize winner of $7,500 cash was ticket #1828 holder Larry Liao. Ticket # 0166 holder Lina Villagomez won the second prize of round trip tickets for two to any Asian destination compliments of Delta Airlines, and $500 cash.
Ticket number 1033 holder Emilou A. Hocog won a roundtrip ticket for two to any Asian destination courtesy of Continental Airlines, and $500 cash. The fourth prize winner of a round trip business elite ticket for one to Honolulu was ticket number 1777 holder Christine S. Dela Cruz. Fifth prize winner of round trip tickets for two to any Asia destination and $200 cash was ticket number 0629 holder Jim Arenovski.
The sixth prize winner of $3,000 cash was ticket number 1887 holder Luen Fong Enterprises.
Thirty-six other lucky individuals went home with attractive prizes while others won treasure chests containing different items.
NMI chapter executive director John Hirsh earlier expressed optimism that members of the community would once again support the event despite the economic downturn and the recent government shutdown.
On Saturday, he was happy to see that all the tables they had reserved for over a thousand individuals were filled.
Various prizes were also given to winners for the costume and dancing contest.
The NMI chapter gave special recognition to Lou Johnson, Roxanne Ferrer, Joe Jetnil and the Bank of Guam for being staunch supporters of Red Cross programs.
