Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said Glen Kalen, 19, was charged with disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, illegal possession of a firearm and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The victim, an 18-year-old male, noticed that Kalen who was asleep on the ground woke up and started a disturbance outside their residence.
“Glen was drunk and out of control. He broke the driver side window of the victim’s Toyota pick-up truck. Glen also damaged the metal frame pedestal, of an IT&E phone box,” said Tarkong.
Kalen then left the area and returned with a .410 caliber shotgun and when the victim attempted to calm him down, Kalen poked the gun at the victim and threatened to shoot him.
Neighbors called the police who immediately responded to the scene.
“As the police arrived at the area Glenn ran away and hid behind the lemon tree,” said Tarkong.
“Officers Joseph Guerrero, Antonio Kaipat, and Buddy Igitol, located Kalen hiding behind a lemon tree near the victim’s residence. Officer Guerrero discovered a black .410 caliber sawed off shotgun near the suspect. The weapon was loaded with a cartridge in the chamber,” he added.
Police officers recovered another one round of .410 ammunition on the ground near Kalen’s residence. The weapon and ammunition were secured as evidence.
