The Commonwealth Cancer Association has moved

Nokalimi Plaza is located between the Bank of Guam Building and the M2M Building on Garapan Road. The CCA’s office number is now 682-0050, and the e-mail address is cca@ccamarianas.org .

Board president Alex Sablan thanked the Department of Public Health for the strong support the agency has given the CCA since the organization’s inception. “The Department of Public Health has been exceptionally accommodating to the CCA, and for more than seven years has provided us with office space, equipment, technical expertise, and other resources as we worked to build our organization and programs. We enjoy an excellent relationship with DPH today, and look forward to continued collaboration on services that benefit cancer survivors, their families, and the general community in the years to come,” Sablan said.

Board vice president Bud White expressed special gratitude to three major and long-time supporters of the CCA for their assistance in establishing the new office in Garapan:  Nora Sablan, IT&E, and Saiship.

“Nora heard about the CCA’s need for an office, and immediately offered one of her office spaces in the family building, Nokalimi Plaza, rent-free, along with some equipment. Then IT&E and Saiship stepped in and offered their assistance as well in setting up the new office. We are grateful to Nora, IT&E, and Saiship for their support,” White said.

The Commonwealth Cancer Association promotes cancer awareness, education, and prevention, provides patient support services, and serves as the liaison for cancer matters in the CNMI and the region.

Board treasurer Maggie Camacho noted that the CCA’s programs and services are funded entirely by the contributions of corporations, private foundations, families, and individuals.

“We would not be able to provide these critical services if not for the tremendous generosity and commitment of people like Nora Sablan, IT&E, and Saipan Shipping,” she said. “And in just a few short months, on May 14, 2010, we will be holding our annual signature fundraising event, the Marianas March Against Cancer, at the Hopwood Junior High School Field. We hope to be able to count on the strong support and participation of the community this year, as we have in previous years,” she added.
