Tinian casino’s ‘Dream Girls’ win dance competition

The members of “The Dream Girls” only had four days to practice their number but they entertained the audience with their interpretation of a Tina Turner medley, receiving a total of 48 points.

Bagging second place and winning $200 cash is a mixed group of participants who performed “Madagascar’s Escape to the Jungle.” The group got 43 points.

Placing third was a group from the Casino Café which won $100 for their performance of “The Glo” from the TV series “Glee.” They garnered a total of 40 points.

Fourth place went to Red Horse Riders, a mixed group of male dancers, who won $50 cash. They garnered 37 points.

The judges were Tinian Commerce Director Matthew Masga, Tinian Senior and Junior High School principal Julian Hofschneider, Sen. Frank Cruz, Sen. Jude Hofschneider and Mary Ann dela Cruz.

Hotel officials headed by general manager Tom Liu, managing director Alfred Yue, human resources director Philip David and casino general manager Tim Blyth also gave certificates of recognition to employees who have been with the company for five and 10 years.

The Christmas party was attended by over 800 guests including the hotel’s 500 plus employees, families, friends and officials such as Tinian Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz and Senators Cruz and Hofschneider.

Lucky winners received attractive prizes during the raffle draw. Five employees won roundtrip tickets to Shanghai, China.

Providing entertainment for the night were the Taotao Taga Dance Academy, the Star Marianas Group, the Korahites Voice Choir, guitarist Leo Pascua, and the top winners of the Spot-On Idol singing contest: Stephanie Cruz, Jeff Boado and Junie Polistico.

Vocalists Boy Gunida and Eileen Duran, and keyboardist Rommel Isidro from Saipan’s Retro Jam Band kept everybody dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

Masters of ceremony  were Tinian Dynasty casino marketing & promotions manager Chell Funtanar and front desk receptionist Barnard Maraon.
