Tinian Hot Pepper Festival on Feb.19-20

Revelers will have the opportunity to participant or cheering for their favorite teams and contestants in the Hot Pepper Eating Contest, Dragon Boat Race, Cha Cha Dance Contest, Hermit Crab Race, and the “Estofao Pika” Cooking Contest.  Hapi the Clown will also join this year’s event again.

“Just like ‘donni sali,’ the island of Tinian has a unique flavor all its own, featuring pristine beaches, rich historic sites, and a world-class casino,” said the Marianas Visitors Authority community projects manager Martin Duenas.  “The Hot Pepper Festival is going to be a great opportunity for visitors to mingle with the locals and get a taste for Tinian’s way of life.”

MVA is collaborating with the Tinian mayor’s office and MVA members to put on the event, which will be held at Tachogna Beach.  The annual event falls on the weekend before President’s Day to entice more visitors to Tinian for the holiday weekend.
