Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan speaks during a Tinian and Aguigan Legislative Delegation session in the Senate chamber.
TINIAN Mayor Edwin P. Aldan is asking the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation to allocate $12,000 in poker fee collections to the Mayor’s Discretionary Account.
Commenting on House Local Bill 23-71, which proposes to appropriate $18,000 in poker fee collections for Tinian, Aldan told the delegation chair, Sen. Karl King-Nabors, that he, the mayor, supports the appropriation and its underlying intent.
Authored by Rep. Patrick San Nicolas, H.L.B 23-71 would appropriate $18,000 in poker fee collections to the following:
–$10,000 to the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission for personnel.
–$8,000 to the mayor of Tinian for operations.
“I do have a suggestion for consideration, which is to allocate the $12,000 to the Mayor’s Discretionary Account instead of operations. This allocation would enable our office to address outstanding obligations directly impacting … certain functions and operations of the municipality,” the mayor told King-Nabors.
The remaining $6,000 is crucial for the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission’s personnel expenses, “as they are currently facing financial difficulties,” the mayor added.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the delegation members for understanding the current challenges facing the municipality and recognizing the need to address them,” he added.
