Republican Party president Ed Tenorio, in an interview yesterday, said representatives from the camps of Heinz-Arnold and Juan-Galvin attended the meeting and discussed the procedures for the primary.
Like their counterparts on Saipan, both camps vowed to respect the result of the primary.
The Tinian Republicans told Tenorio that they recognize how critical it is for the party to remain united.
They also vowed to support the GOP slate on Tinian.
Ray M. Dela Cruz a former senator, is running for mayor, former Councilman Trenton B. Conner is a House candidate, while Francisco Q. Cruz, the chairman of the municipal council, has teamed up with Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider, who is seeking re-election.
The Tinian GOP president is Ed Chai, the first vice president is Antonio San Nicolas Borja; second vice president, Anthony U. Hofschneider; secretary, Carmen Quitugua Dela Cruz; and treasurer, Gabriel Dela Cruz Evangelista.
Borja represents the Heinz-Arnold team while Remy Diaz represents the Juan-Galvin camp.
During a meeting on Rota last Saturday, Tenorio said the Republicans there decided to wait until the primary before announcing the composition of its local slate.
The GOP rules for primary have already been completed, Tenorio said.
