Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes high scholastic achievement during the first year of college. It has over 245 chapters throughout the nation and more than 500,000 students have been initiated into membership.
The Oregon State University chapter was established in 1933. Once initiated, an individual holds lifetime membership. Throughout each student’s collegiate career members are encouraged to continue their superior scholastic achievement, to promote intelligent living and high standards of learning, and to develop meaningful goals in service to society.
Maratita is in the pre-pharmacy program at OSU and aspires to be a pharmacist serving her CNMI and Tinian communities.
“I feel honored to be in the society and glad that they recognize the hard work we first year students go through,” said Maratita in an interview with Variety. “It makes me feel grateful that I have a lot of support from family and friends back home which really helps when I get home sick.”
She is the daughter of the late David Quichocho Maratita and Board of Education member Lucia Blanco-Maratita.
