Torres, R-Saipan, said he already reported the situation to CUC but there was no action.
The lawmaker said some concerned parents from Precinct 3 called his attention to the loose branches hanging on the electrical wire.
A row of eucalyptus trees adorn the fence of GES, one of the most densely populated elementary public schools on Saipan.
Some of the trees have grown as tall as the power pole and their branches have reached the black wires distributing electricity around the area.
During heavy winds, Torres said the branches add pressure to the swayed wire and may cause fire hazard.
CUC is supposed to routinely remove impediments on electrical conduits like loose tree branches to avoid fire hazards.
Different utility corporations in the U.S. also conduct routine tree trimming on power lines for safety considerations.
