Torres wants youth polls in March

They would not have enough time to prepare for the election, he added.

House Bill 17-87, which he introduced, proposes to reschedule the youth election for the first Monday of March. The measure will also eliminates the election in the precincts and Northern Marianas College.

The youth voters and the candidates, Torres said, need more time so they can participate in the election.

Legislative Bureau Director Glenna SP. Reyes agreed.

She said these are the busy months for the students and the schools.

Reyes said as of early this week, 20 youths had filed their candidacies and over 3,700 voters had registered.

The House is expected to act on Torres’ bill on Friday.

If the bill becomes law, Reyes said they anticipate that more youths will register for the election.
