Tourist hit by car

The 35-year-old victim was crossing the road from Dollar Days toward the Saipan Grand Hotel when a blue 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage struck him.

The vehicle was traveling south on the inside southbound lane.

The victim suffered from a fractured right leg, abrasions to the right side of his face, and lacerations on the right side of his head.

He was immediately transported to the Commonwealth Health Center by medics for further treatment and was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The car sustained moderate damage to its front bumper, grill, hood and left corner of its rooftop.

A 35-year-old female drove the car which had three male passengers: two 14-year-olds and one 11-year-old.

Alcohol was not a cause of the accident although speeding had not been ruled out by the police.
