CIVILIAN Aide to the U.S. Secretary of Army Mike Sablan on Thursday received the Seven Seals Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Guam-CNMI Committee “for meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.”

The award is presented at the discretion of the state chair or by the ESGR senior leadership. It is presented in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission, to include the efforts of volunteers who carry out ESGR’s mission across the nation.

Sablan, who is also Triple J Enterprises’ vice president for finance and administration, was pleasantly surprised when ESGR Guam-CNMI Area Chair Rita A. Sablan, Ed.D., ESGR State Ombudsman Joann T. Aquino, Employer Outreach Coordinator Rose Igitol, and officials of Team Triple J Enterprises gathered in the lobby of Surfrider Resort Hotel at 1 p.m.

He didn’t know that the gathering was held to present him with the Seven Seals Award.

Dr. Rita Sablan said, “We come together and recognize one of your very own from Triple J. We are also very proud of all the work that Mr. Sablan as the civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army has done to support our mission.”

She added, “We are here today not only as the CNMI area committee but also on behalf of the Guam-CNMI State ESGR committee to recognize him as an individual to receive the Seven Seals Award representing the seven military branches of the U.S. government.”

Mike Sablan thanked the ESGR committee for the honor. He said one of the highest priorities of the secretary of the Army and the other branches of the military is to encourage young men and women to consider the military as a career.

“Our nation is in great need of more young leaders to … defend our values and our country. The U.S. military as you know is quite busy around the world. As busy as we get, we need more leaders,” Mike Sablan added.

He said he is also very proud to work alongside the members of Team Triple J, including Business Development Manager Fred Camacho, a U.S. Army veteran, and the company’s chairman, Robert H. Jones, who is also a military veteran.
