The exhibit will feature 19 photos of Palomo’s work from his upcoming book, “tropical art, GUAM.”
Opening night begins Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the restaurant’s Hagåtña location. Complimentary light refreshments will be served and entertainment will be provided as well. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Oct. 16.
Palomo’s book was created with “the intent to inspire others to create something beautiful from our island’s natural resources,” he says. The 184-page book contains 161 uniquely crafted photos of “tropical art” creations.
According to Palomo, it’s not so much about the photography, but rather the piece of art comprised of objects or natural plant materials being captured.
Palomo has been creating tropical art for more than 20 years as a way to reflect aspects of Guam life. His upcoming book gives him the opportunity to share his passion with others.
“The photos show the simplicity of creating something beautiful out of ordinary objects and local plant materials,” says Palomo. “The book is a celebration of our island, our culture, and our way of life.”
The book will be launched sometime in November. Book pre-orders are being accepted at the exhibit opening for $35, while retail price is valued at $40.
