
(CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management) — Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, Tropical Storm Bolaven, as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, was moving west-northwest at 13 mph.
Bolaven was located
about 80 miles east-southeast of Rota;
about 95 miles south-southeast of Tinian;
about 100 miles south-southeast of Saipan;
about 110 miles east of Guam;
about 185 miles south-southeast of Anatahan; and
about 265 miles south of Alamagan.
Maximum sustained winds: 70 mph.
The center of Bolaven was located near latitude 13.8 degrees north and longitude 146.4 degrees east. Bolaven is expected to maintain this general course with a slight decrease in forward speed over the next 24 hours.
Bolaven is forecast to intensify through tonight possibly becoming a typhoon. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 70 miles.
As of 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios has maintained Typhoon Condition I for Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Typhoon Condition I means that typhoon force winds of 74 mph or more are expected, with damaging storm force winds of 39 mph arriving within 12 hours or occurring.
