The typhoon center was about 95 miles north of Agrihan; 145 miles north of Pagan; 175 miles north of Alamagan; and 350 miles north of Saipan.
At about 5 p.m., EMO said the eye of Typhoon Ma-On was nearing the commonwealth.
A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Pagan, Alamagan, and Agrihan.
Tropical storm force winds of 40 mph or more were expected last night as Typhoon Ma-On moved west at 12 mph.
A slight turn toward the west-northwest and a continued decrease in forward speed was expected in the next 24 hours, EMO said.
Maximum sustained winds remained at 105 mph and typhoon force winds extended outward up to 30 miles from the center. Tropical storm force winds extended outward up to 135 miles from the center.
