University of Guam unveils 60th anniversary plans

At the UOG Field House, university officials discussed a year-long agenda of activities to celebrate the success and future of the institution.

The 60th anniversary theme is “Celebrating the Triton Spirit.”

“Today, we are unveiling our plans to make UOG the natural choice of generations that have not even been conceived,” stated UOG President Robert Underwood. “Today, we are revealing the plan that will allow each citizen of this island the opportunity to be a builder for the 21st century campus.”

Underwood spoke about expansion plans and improvements to be made at the UOG campus. Currently they are working towards raising $30 million over the next five years to expand the campus for the future. Many businesses, alumni and citizens are encouraged to be stakeholders of UOG’s 21st century campus.

“We are here today to make sure that the campus, the facilities, the infrastructure needed for the 21st century will be built,” Underwood said.

“We will be building a 21st century campus worthy of our students, worthy of our island, and emblematic of the strength of our region.”

Part of the campus physical master plan includes restructuring, relocating of offices, and other vast improvements.
