CNMI Range Master Ambrosio T. Ogumoro told the Variety in a phone interview that there are still over a hundred gun owners in the CNMI who have not registered their firearms.
“If these gun owners will not comply with the law, we will have to process and arrest them. We have given them so much time, the registration is overdue and enough is enough,” Ogumoro said.
It is already way past the deadline, he added.
“Some of these firearms haven’t been even registered for the past 10 years and we need to do something about this,” Ogumoro said.
“Anybody who will not comply with the law but wants to keep his weapon is a violator and must face the consequences,” he added.
The original deadline was Jan. 16, but this was later extended to Feb. 16.
“We believe that we have given the gun holders more than sufficient notice and time,” Ogumoro said.
