Untalan: New dialysis center to open soon

“Let’s move on,” Untalan said in an interview with the Variety.

He earlier said that the water supply for the new dialysis center had been “upgraded.”

He also said kidney specialist Dr. Hormazdiar Dastoor will return to the Commonwealth Health Center in time for the opening of the new dialysis center.

Untalan said   new facilities and equipment will reinforce the existing 24 dialysis machines.

He is hoping that the new dialysis machines will “cut down to only two” the present three shifts for hemodialysis treatment.

Untalan said a patient needs about three to four hours of hemodialysis treatment.

Currently, the dialysis center is open until 11 in the evening.

Untalan said his department is addressing the public concerns, particularly on the delivery of public health services.

During the hearing of the House Committee on Education, Health and Welfare last June, Public Health and CHC officials informed legislators that the dialysis center had been operating without the presence of a kidney doctor since April.

Legislators also learned that a kidney specialist based on Guam was providing advice to CHC through the telephone.
