US congressional staffers visit Tinian

A DELEGATION of U.S. congressional staff members is on Tinian today, Thursday, to meet with Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and other island leaders, and to tour the sites of ongoing Department of Defense construction activities.

The mayor said a “meet-and-greet” event at his office will start at 11 a.m. followed by a brief tour of the divert airfield construction sites and the runway restoration activities at North Field.

Aldan said he and other Tinian leaders will discuss with the staffers matters regarding the ongoing military buildup on the island.

The visiting staffers are Tim Nelson, chief of staff of Hawaii Rep. Ed Case; Cesar Gonzales, chief of staff of Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart; Jeremy Tittle, chief of staff of California Rep. Salud Carbajal; Jacob Hochberg, chief of staff of Texas Rep. Jasmine Crocket; Bryn Woollacott, national security advisor for California Rep. Ken Calvert; Samantha Price, legislative director of Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz; Bea Valenti, senior legislative assistant of Mississippi Rep. Mike Ezell; Congressional Appropriations Liaison Esther Swartz; Congressional Budget & Appropriations Liaison SMSgt. Jess Roper; and Assistant Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives LT Wilson Nichols.
