US Customs technical staff to visit Saipan and Rota airports

“This group is not policy-setting and will be strictly construction-related,” CPA Executive Director Efrain Camacho said in an e-mail to the Variety.

“Their visit will focus on gathering information and site survey to develop a first-hand understanding of the existing site conditions,” Camacho said.

“This is in preparation for developing the necessary plans for what is needed for [Customs and Boarder Protection] operations.”

Camacho said CPA will cooperate with federal officials who will take over local immigration starting in November.

Despite the lack of time and availability of funds, he said they are “doing our best.”
