In his letter to Gov. Benigno R. Fitial two weeks ago, David van Over, the company’s president and CEO, said his company’s wind turbine models can generate up to 50 megawatts of electricity.
Synergy Power is a manufacturer and dealer of electricity through the Eyas Power Fund, LLC.
In his letter of intent to Fitial, van Over said his company wants to invest its own money to establishing and operating an assembly and tower manufacturing plant in the CNMI.
This plant, he said, will be a model of sustainable manufacturing and will be in compliance with all relevant international standards.
The proposed plant will be fully powered by renewable energy sources including wind and solar energy, and the annual orders from the plant are expected to exceed $10 million, he added.
Joe S. Salas, the firm’s vice president for sales and marketing, said the project will be “a win-win” solution for the CNMI.
Synergy wind turbines, he added, allows for safe operation and continued power generation even in strong typhoons.
He said they will operate in low speed winds, potentially up to 18 hours a day, allowing for generated energy over a significantly longer period of time than conventional turbines that rely on higher winds.
