Guam-based Veterans Affairs outreach specialist Tina San Agustin spent five days visiting Saipan, Tinian and Rota to meet with veterans and their dependents, she added.
Coleman accompanied San Agustin to Tinian for two days. San Agustin spent one day on Rota and two on Saipan.
Coleman said San Agustin assisted the veterans in matters about compensation benefits, home loans, the Post 9/11 GI Bill which provide education benefits for veterans, and other financial matters.
She said VA representatives usually visit on a quarterly basis.
“The representatives cover the entire Pacific region including Palau, Yap, Pohnpei, Kosrae and other Micronesian islands to assist veterans,” Coleman said.
She encourages veterans to come out and meet the VA representative because this is their chance to get direct answers to their questions and get assistance in processing their benefits.
In August last year, Veterans Benefits Administration Public Contact and Outreach Specialist Daniele Gualtieri visited the island.
Veterans who showed up had more questions on health care, reimbursements for medical expenses, medical benefits and claims, and reapplications for disabilities benefits and claims.
