“They have done a very good job,” Patricia Bergin, the WASC team leader told Variety.
During its third day of review, the four-man team learned how the teachers and students “dedicated themselves” to achieve their goals, Bergin said.
Team member Janet Knoeppel said lack of funding didn’t prevent the school leadership to comply with WASC’s recommendations.
The teachers are very innovative in utilizing their available resources in guiding and taking care of the school and the children, Knoeppel said.
The team, whose other members are Sandra Joan Watanabe and Ruth Fox, will meet again today to discuss their evaluation of the school’s progress.
Their recommendations, Bergin said, will be submitted to WASC’s main office in California, which will make the final decision.
In a separate interview, San Antonio principal Katrina S. Lizama said the WASC team “gave us inputs” regarding compliance with the recommendations.
Lizama said she is confident that the school, with the constant cooperation of its teachers, staff and parents, can accomplish their goals and maintain their WASC accreditation.
