School principal Tom Weindl said their kindergarten to eighth grade students usually perform twice a year for the manamko’.
This year, they staged two plays: “The Last Meeting of the Christmas Haters Club” and “The Giving Tree.”
Last night, the students performed for the rest of the community members at the same venue.
Teacher Goeril Hagen, director of “The Giving Tree,” said the play is about the importance of giving.
It is a tale about the relationship between a young boy and a tree which always provided the child’s wants.
Their relationship continued as the boy grows older. He eventually became very old and what was left of the tree was a stump which it offered to those who wanted to sit and rest.
Hagen said their youngest performer is a four year old student.
Brothers Rob and Mark Epley, who are also teachers at the school, directed the other play which is about Scrooge who invited the Grinch and the Heat Miser to a meeting of the Christmas Hater Clubs.
The play is about knowing the true meaning of Christmas.
“We had such a great audience and they were very receptive,” Rob Epley said, referring to the manamko’.
Aging Office program director Walter Manglona said about 60 senior citizens showed up for the show.
“The manamko’ really enjoyed the plays and we all look forward for another presentation,” he added.
He said the students are performing better each year. “It’s a great show.”
