Winchells robbed

A MAN armed with a gun robbed Winchells in Susupe on Sunday, police said yesterday.

The Department of Public Safety said the suspect ran away with an estimated $180 from the cash register.

No one was reported injured in the robbery that occurred at 3:23 a.m., according to acting DPS spokeswoman Rose Ada.

Ada said investigation showed that the cashier was in the process of giving change to a customer when the armed suspect came in.

The suspect pointed what was believed to be a pistol at the cashier and instructed her to proceed to a room. Ada said the cashier went out from the building through the backdoor.

The robber, who had a cloth covering half of his face, then fled from the establishment.

“Right now police officers are out there speaking with other employees of the building to get information,” Ada told reporters.

Last Wednesday, a garment worker was robbed by two persons outside Sunleader Store in Garapan.
