The event, which was a culmination of several sessions of free dance lessons to individuals from Tanapag, Gualo Rai and Susupe, was organized by the Department of Public Health under the Wise Women Project and the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
Wise Women Project program coordinator Gary Ramsey said the free dance lessons were part of Public Health’s campaign to decrease obesity, diabetes and hypertension among CNMI residents.
“It is also one way of engaging the community in an enjoyable form of exercise,” Ramsey said.
The free dance classes were held four times a week in the three areas from Oct. 17 to Nov. 2.
Ramsey said those who missed the free lessons have a chance to join the next classes.
“We will open the next free dance lessons on Dec. 1 and it will continue on until next year,” he said. The classes will be held twice a week in four locations, with an hour and a half per session.
The four instructors are from the Rose Dance School in Garapan — Eden Quizon, Resty Joson, Manny Joson and Allen Cuyugan.
