Woman pleads not guilty to ice trafficking charges

The defendant, Xiao Feng Li, also known as Lili, of San Jose, Tinian appeared in court with attorney F. Matthew Smith. The federal government was represented by U.S. Assistant Attorney Eric O’Malley.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson accepted Li’s not guilty plea and set the jury trial for Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.

The federal government moved for “no bail” at this time, but Li’s counsel reserved the right to have a bail hearing at a future date.

The federal court ordered “no bail” at this time for Li.

Munson said pretrial motions should be filed no later than July 3.

Li was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after the hearing.

On Wednesday, the federal court issued a warrant of arrest for Li at the Department of Corrections facility where she was detained.

The indictment stated that on April 12, 2008, Li possessed and distributed 0.76 net grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “ice.
