Woman struck by vehicle on Beach Road in Chalan Laulau

A 56-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening on Beach Road in Chalan Laulau, near Pacific Outlet, according to the Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the auto-pedestrian incident was reported at 6:57 p.m.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that a 56-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Beach Road when she was struck by a vehicle on the inner northbound lane. At the scene, officers were unable to observe visible injuries at the time but noted [that] the victim [was] semi-conscious, lapsing in and out of awareness,” Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said.

The woman was transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation where injuries such as abrasions were observed.

“The victim remains in stable condition and is undergoing further examinations,” Manacop added.

The vehicle’s male driver remained at the scene, and officers did not detect any signs of impairment, DPS said. He was interviewed at the scene and later released.

The incident remains under investigation by the DPS Highway Patrol Section.
