Woman who hit partner with car to change plea

Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona said a bench warrant will be issued if Norlina Jean Taitano fails to attend her  hearing.

Taitano has already signed a plea agreement, together with her counsel F. Matthew Smith, Assistant Attorney General Benjamin K. Petersburg, the prosecutor, and Blumel Ada, the Attorney General’s Office victim witness advocate.

Taitano was charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, hit and run, and disturbing the peace.

Police said Taitano ran over Nelsin Anson Saimon who suffered injuries on both of his legs and on the lower portion of his torso on April 9, 2010.

Both parties informed the court that Taitano desired to resolve the case through a non-trial disposition.

According to the plea agreement, Taitano has manifested to plead guilty to the charge of disturbing the peace.

Taitano agrees to be sentenced to a term of six months all suspended except for 20 days, with credit for 20 days time served at the Department of Corrections facility.

Taitano will be placed on six months probation. She will pay all court costs, probation fees, and $806.59 as restitution for her victim’s medical costs.

The commonwealth agrees to dismiss all other charges with prejudice, according to the plea agreement.
