World customs group awards 10 local officers

The awardees are Luis Hocog of the Division of Customs on Rota, Rosita Aldan of Tinian, Kimberly Kwon, Benjamin Tesiro, Koleen Martin, Oscar Angui, Joseph Palacios, Anthony Camacho, Dewayne Johnson and Robert Reyes of Saipan.

Customs Director Jesus C. Muna handed the certificates of merits on behalf of WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya.

The WCO, Muna, said is an international organization of customs officials from different countries. Each year, it recognizes customs personnel for excellent job performance.

Muna said the performance of customs personnel are evaluated every year and the WCO gets the names of the nominees.

This is the second year that local Customs officers were awarded by the WCO.

Last year, Muna said there were also 10 local officers who received the same award.    

There are 57 Customs officers on Saipan, six on Rota and five on Tinian.
