Celebrated since 1996, the event is a national letter-writing campaign highlighted by letters of support, love and encouragement from parents to their children.
It was pioneered by Campfire USA, one of the nation’s premier youth development organizations.
The states marked Absolutely Incredible Kids Day on Thursday.
GES teacher Melissa Mendez said there is no formal program for each classroom, “but [the celebration] is to show the incredible and outstanding kids how important they are.”
“There are no specific arrangements, but each grade level will come up with ways to celebrate their incredible students,” she said. “This is just another day to appreciate the wonderful students we have at our school.”
Last year, Camp Fire USA encouraged adults to write letters to the children and tell them how important they are in the community.
Whether it’s your own child, your grandchild or even a friend’s child, Camp Fire USA is asking you again to take the time to write the children a note that tells them how important they are to you.
