This is an open event for the public between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The motto of this event is “Local Goes, Store Stays.”
There won’t be any store food items allowed, along with preservatives or drugs and/or alcohol, to the site.
According to the president of the Nimgil Youth Organization, John Gilsowuth, “This is a fair to showcase what local food is all about and how we the local people of Yap should refrain from depending on too much [preserved and] imported food brought to the island.”
Any violator who brings any imported food items from the store, such as can meat, imported meat, cigarette, soft drinks, liquor, cookies and the likes will be dealt with accordingly.
In promoting local food for better health, the youth organization, in conjunction with the community health center, is encouraging everyone to come to this event free of charge.
“You won’t buy anything to eat or drink, you won’t buy any tickets to listen to live music, you won’t buy ticket to park your car or pay anything to enjoy the fair at the park. All you need to do is register your name at the gate to enter the raffle that day,” Gilsowuth said.
