In an interview yesterday, Sakisat said they “harassed” the trailer of Keo Song Marine World Corp., which is also a marine sports concessioner, by running a yellow tape around it three weeks ago.
If that is what the complaining businesswoman calls harassment, Sakisat said, “then yes, indeed,” adding that they did not harass any individual.
Sakisat said he and acting Tinian Finance Director shut down Keo Song Marine World because there was an “urgent” need to investigate the certification of the company’s diving instructor.
The company, Sakisat said, was investigated two years ago when one of the tourists who patronized its services drowned.
He said the business permit of Keo Song World already expired when they shut down the facility.
They also could not find any record that it had a business license when it operated in 2007, 2008 and 2009, Sakisat added.
He said they have been receiving complaints that despite these irregularities, Keo Song World was competing with legitimate car rental companies at the airport.
Finance also had to look into Keo Song World’s equipment, safety measures and insurance policy, Sakisat said.
As long as he is the revenue officer, he said he will continue to enforce the law.
Keo Song general manager HaeSook Shin Na earlier told Variety that she had been operating a scooter, diving and tour business on Tinian for already 10 years and had not experienced any inconvenience until Sakisat “harassed” her business.
“I didn’t do wrong,” she said.
