“Many teens think high school is enough, but it’s not,” she said.
Aldan, 18, is a bachelor of science in education student.
She and NMC freshman Amanda R. Johnson are running unopposed for the college’s seats in the Youth Congress.
Aldan said life in college taught her about the importance of studying in order to achieve success and land a good job after graduation.
She said she is running for the Youth Congress because she wants to effect change instead of just “watching bad things” happen to the youth.
She wants to encourage teens to stop smoking and to enlist them in the ongoing campaign to beautify the island.
Aldan also believes that the law on underage alcohol and tobacco use is not properly implemented.
She said she knows teens who already smoke and drink.
Aldan is asking NMC students to cast their ballots today.
Voting starts on campus at 8 a.m. and ends at 5p.m.
