“We will continue power rationing throughout this week,” Tulop said. She added though that the Wartsilla will be online this week, which will lessen the areas covered by the power rationing. Egine No. 12 or the Mitsubishi engine is still undergoing repairs. The Wartsilla engine is expected to be corrected this Wednesday while parts for the Mitsubishi engine is still being anticipated.
Tulop said PPUC is in communication with a company in Japan to ensure the immediate repair of engine no. 12. The problem meanwhile with the main line from Aimeliik Plant to Koror has been identified and corrected. Tulop said the repair was completed Sunday early morning. The cause of the power outage in several parts in Airai and Koror was due to a burn out in the termination point connecting the overheard line and the submarine cable. The Guam Power Authority assisted Palau in determining the problem. The problems with the engines however will still result to at least four hours of power outage all over the island.
