HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — An arrest has been made in a fight between two brothers that occurred in December 2023 after the accuser’s injuries became infected and required medical attention.
According to a magistrate’s complaint filed Saturday in the Superior Court of Guam, Ronald Elliot Ngirmekur struck his brother with a machete multiple times.
The complaint stated that Ngirmekur was giving his brother “dirty looks for no known reason” and cursing at him “throughout the afternoon.”
At one point, it’s alleged that Ngirmekur threw a pipe at his brother, striking him on the elbow. The brother allegedly retreated to his room, but Ngirmekur’s taunting was ceaseless, according to the complaint.
“When the victim got ‘fed up,’ he invited Ngirmekur to ‘settle the problem.’”
That’s when Ngirmekur allegedly “unexpectedly swung a machete at the victim’s head three consecutive times with the weapon,” the complaint said.
On Jan. 5, the victim went to Guam Regional Medical City for treatment because the injuries from the fight had become infected.
“Three vertical lacerations, approximately three inches in length, which appeared to have multiple staples and … scabbing, indicative of its healing, on the right side of the forehead, the top-right side of the head and the right side of the head,” the complaint said.
Ngirmekur was charged with aggravated assault as a second-degree felony and family violence as a third-degree felony, both with the special allegation of use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He also was charged with misdemeanor assault and family violence.
He was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
The North entrance to the Guam Judicial Center is seen Feb. 12, 2024, in Hagåtña.
