FOR selling $50 worth of methamphetamine or “ice” to a confidential informer in August, Nick Anthony Empleo Ayuyu was arrested on Tinian.
Ayuyu, 31, was charged with trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
On Oct. 11, he appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho who imposed a $50,000 cash bail on the defendant.
At the hearing, Ayuyu was represented by Assistant Public Defender Vina Seelam while Assistant Attorney General Frances Demapan appeared for the government.
Ayuyu was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing, and was ordered to return to court on Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
According to the complaint against Ayuyu, the Tinian Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted a surveillance operation with a confidential informer who had agreed to meet with Ayuyu to purchase “ice” worth $50.
The surveillance team saw the confidential informer, who was in his vehicle, arriving at Ayuyu’s residence. They saw Ayuyu approach the vehicle and hand the confidential informer an item while the informer handed Ayuyu cash.
The item handed to the informer was a small plastic straw containing crystal-like substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine, police said.
