HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Nathan Benevente Alfonso, 22, stands accused of raping a girl when she was 15 years old.
A magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam stated that the sexual assault occurred sometime between September 2020 and September 2022.
“(When she was) approximately 15 years old, she was at the defendant’s residence in Maite. … (The victim) was lying on the couch. The defendant asked … if she wanted to lose her virginity,” the complaint stated.
Alfonso then got on top of the girl and raped her, instructing the victim “not to tell anyone,” court documents state.
The victim didn’t report the assault to the Guam Police Department until Feb. 1, 2023.
Alfonso was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony.
Documents submitted by the Office of the Attorney General indicate that if Alfonso is found guilty, he could face life imprisonment.
The Guam Judicial Center in Hagåtña is seen Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.
